Tomio Shota (Shota Mitomi, 三富翔太) is a London-based artist working in painting and performance. His works explore the relationships between materials, history, and musical concepts, including the embodied experience of sound through performance with the harpsichord.

Building on his extensive training in Japanese painting, he draws from the context of large-scale Japanese painting rooted in architectural forms such as murals to bring its architectural scale and sensibilities into contemporary spatial contexts. His practice engages with the threshold between painting and architecture, treating space as a site of human interaction and the work itself as a total environment.

He is co-founder and Creative Director of House of Baby, an artist duo creating spatial works grounded in the study of space as a medium.

His practice extends beyond traditional galleries to include collaborations in physical theatre and urban spaces, including hospitality settings, creating multisensory experiences.
